[a note from Maya 👋 ]

You know that friend who lost 30 pounds?

She swears by her morning smoothie routine. Posts about her lunch salads daily. Even her weird bone broth routine.

So you copy everything she does. Same smoothie recipe. Same salad ingredients. You even choke down the bone broth.

Three weeks later you're exhausted and somehow gained five pounds.

Turns out your friend's body isn't your body. Shocking discovery, I know.

But here's where it gets tricky with weight loss expectations.

You see your friend's results and think "I should be losing faster."

You follow a plan perfectly and wonder, "Why didn't the scale move?"

You step on the scale after a solid week. "I only lost one pound."

Sound familiar?

Here's what I've learned after helping thousands of people: You can control your actions, but you can't control your outcomes.

You can eat protein at breakfast every day. That's an action you CAN control.

Whether that gives you steady energy all morning? That's an outcome you CAN'T control.

Your body might react totally different than mine.

This is especially true with weight loss timelines. Your metabolism, hormones, stress levels, and sleep quality all play a role. Even your gut health affects how quickly you see results.

The magic happens when you focus on what you can control and let go of expecting your body to perform like someone else's.

I made a video about this last week. It's about expectations and your health. Worth watching if you've ever felt frustrated by "slow" progress.
